In order to give you clarity, confidence and complete transparency at every stage, we’ve included our fee structure for you to see here.

Your consultation fee

The fee for an initial consultation will be no more than £270.

The fee for any follow-up consultation will be no more than £200.

Following your consultation we may decide your child needs to have certain tests (for example, blood tests, X-rays, MRI or CT scans) to help us diagnose their condition.

If the test is undertaken by the hospital rather than us, the fees for those tests will be determined by the hospital and charged to you, or your private medical insurer, separately.

We will keep you fully informed of any fees incurred from additional tests.

Private medical insurance

If you have private medical insurance, you’ll need to contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including whether there are any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees.

Our outpatient and inpatient fees are usually within the reimbursement limits of the major UK insurers, and in line with a fee schedule provided to Embassy Health Offices.

If you get an authorisation number from your insurer before your consultation, we will bill your insurer directly.

You are responsible for any fees not covered by your insurer.

Financial interests

We are legally required to tell you if we have any financial interests in The Portland Hospital or any equipment there.

All the consultants working at the Childrens Orthopaedic practice are employed by The Portland Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare UK.
